This article will guide you through the key features of Scenarios to assist you in getting started right away.

Overview

Sift Scenarios is a feature that is based on the current Org Chart experience you are used to with additional capabilities that allow you to manipulate the data you see on screen.

You can easily move entire teams around or just one person in a simple click. You can also change node details including salary on the fly. Whatever scenario you need or can imagine can all be done in Sift Scenarios intuitive experience.

The Side Panel

While in Scenarios, your side panel will be your planning partner. From the side panel you can:

  • Add a new node or create new hires

  • Add a person to the bench until you are ready to bring them into your plan

  • View your scenario activity or leave comments to discuss changes with others

  • Review your scenario summary to see the impact of your plan

  • Update the details of any of your people, teams or department

Drag and Drop and the Card Hover Menu

You can drag and drop any card or group of cards on your org chart. Simply hover over a card to view its draggable options and click and how that drag option to move the card/s to the new desired location.

While in Sift Scenarios, all cards have a direct menu that you can view and interact with. Hover menu options can include:

  • Dragging the person. This will move the person who are dragging out of their position and from here they can be dropped into a new position or onto the bench to await their next move.

  • Details. Clicking the edit pencil will allow you to view and edit the details for the card that you are viewing.

  • Delete. Need to remove a person, root node or position? The delete button allows you to do that directly from the card.

  • Add. The add button allows you to add a position, an org node or move an existing node to the current card you are hovering over.

  • Dragging the position. This will move the position and any person assigned to it as well as all reports (positions and people) underneath it.

Using the Add Side Panel

In Sift Scenarios, you are able to add new positions, new org nodes such as teams or departments and new hires (people)! You can add new positions and new org nodes from the "Add" menu on the side panel by clicking and dragging then dropping where you want the new card to live on the chart.

To add a new hire, you can click on the "Add new hire" from the "Add" menu and you will be able to fill out the new hire details including fields like name.

NOTE: New hires will automatically be moved to the bench until they are assigned to a position. You can easily add a person to a position by searching for a person in the 'Position Filled By' field on the position Details panel.

Collaborating With Others

You can easily share access to your scenario via the share button at the top-right of the screen. Anytime you add someone to the scenario, they will receive a notification to know that they have access to view, edit and comment.

You can also view anybody who is actively planning alongside you. All changes will appear to you live as a notification on the bottom left of your screen. If you would like to turn those notifications off, update your settings by clicking on the gear icon on the org chart toolbar.

Adding People to the Bench

Your bench is your holding area for adding people who are not currently assigned to a position. You can easily add people to the bench by searching for and adding them via their name or by dragging them into the bench.

Issues/Review Panel

Some of the data in your scenario might be unassigned or missing key pieces of information to correctly place it within your plan. While in the Issues/Review, you can make changes to any cards and update them in real time.
