Sift's org chart automatically brings in your people data from disparate systems to create an org chart you never have to manually update. However, there are times where managers, C-Level executives, and entire departments require visualizing how a different org structure would look like.
Sift has the ability to work with Lucidchart, a visual collaboration and diagramming platform, to import your Sift org chart at any time and edit your current org structure. This can be useful for the following:
Performing HR planning and finding the best fit between team members and jobs, while avoiding resource shortages and surpluses.
Quickly editing team members position titles and reporting structures to show future promotions
Here are step-by-step instructions and a video walkthrough for importing your org chart into Lucidchart. You will need a Lucidchart license.
In your Sift admin dashboard, go to the "All Users" page, then click the "Export" button and choose CSV. This will download your people data to a file.
On Lucid, click "New" -> "Lucidchart" -> "Create from Template". Then under the "Organize teams" category, choose "Org chart" then "Use Template"
Click "Import Data" on the left side, then choose "CSV" and upload the file that you downloaded in step 1.
On the next screen, choose "By ID Number" in the first section, then set your Employee ID to "id" and your Supervisor ID to "teamLeaderId"
On the next screen, set "Name" to "displayName", "Role" to "title", and "Image URL" to "pictureUrl"
On the next screen, Lucid gives you the option to split the org chart by group, department, etc. For now, just choose "Create One Org Chart" but you could try these options later for splitting the org chart by anything on your Sift profiles. For example, you could create them by department.
You may see issues where some people don't have an assigned manager. You can click "Finish" to continue.
You should see your org chart successfully imported! You can drag boxes, add more data under the "Employee Fields" section on the right, and more
